If you can identify with 1 of these 3 situations, this will be the most important thing you read all day. You probably showed up at the office, spent an hour or two with your manager as they hurriedly showed you some insurance paperwork and showed you how to fill out a contract. Despite that sales experience, even I was stumbling around like a chicken with its head cut off in the roof sales game. It was just different. The other 2 salesman may have been there for15 years and have a lot of repeat business,this means you would get the overflow or walk in business,right now in the automobile industry an average salesman is going to struggle.
If I was bound and determined to be a car salesman I would go where the money is flowing like university town ,Vegas,a big metropolitan city,but you will get eaten alive if you are average. Some salesmen work on commission only, some work on salary, some get a bit of. You would have to look into all that when you are in your interview. Every dealership is different. And if you do get on with Volvo, it depends on the sales.
It might not be as fast paced as GM. There are, besides the undeniable fact that, many pitfalls.
